Abstract

Internship or On the Job Training (OJT) programs play a crucial role in vocational education by bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. However, conventional internship management often faces challenges such as limited monitoring of student activities, inadequate documentation of competency development, and minimal integration between schools and industry partners. This study aims to design and develop a web-based e-Internship system that supports integrated internship management while emphasizing competency-based evaluation and career readiness for students. The research methodology consists of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, and testing stages. The e-Internship system is developed using a multi-role approach involving administrators, teachers, students, and industry partners, each with distinct access rights and functionalities. Key features of the system include online internship application, placement management, daily logbook recording, digital career portfolio development, competency-based assessment, and feedback from industry supervisors. The system is implemented as a web application with a centralized database to ensure data consistency, accessibility, and security. System verification is conducted using the black box testing method to evaluate functional suitability without examining internal program structures. The testing results indicate that all core functionalities, including user authentication, internship application processing, logbook submission, portfolio management, and competency-based assessment and feedback, operate as expected. These findings demonstrate that the proposed e-Internship system effectively supports digital internship management and provides a structured platform for monitoring student performance and enhancing career-oriented competency development.
